Super Bowl XLIII Ads: Toyota Tundra

 

Last year, Toyota wowed spectators with commercials featuring the full-size truck, the TOYOTA TUNDRA, performing comically dramatic, superhuman (superpickup?) feats. They keep the tradition alive this year as well, with the Tundra and its 5-ton towing capacity climbing a steeply graded helix enhanced with an extra boost of heat. We were a bit befuddled when the gravel-voiced announcer spoke of trannies - was RuPaul the driver? - but realized that he was actually talking about the heavy-duty transmission, available in 5- or 6-speed varieties. We like these commercials for their dramatic impact; they show the trucks in extenuating circumstances but the potential buyer can imagine their capabilities in real-life situations. - Liz Kim
